Life thus far.

My beautiful little girl has been nothing but a pleasure she is sweet and loving and such a good cuddle bug. She is eating and sleeping very well and we almost have a pattern down for night time already. Her social calendar has been quite full and she's already double booked for 2 parties on the 28th of June.

Here's the review of the past week an a half with Honor Daigh.

Monday May 25th:

Honor met many doctors & nurses. Her Great Grampy, Steve Carroll, a.k.a. "Da" came to meet her along with Uncle Tim, Mike Minion, Mike Doyle, Auntie Caitlin and Maria. Da brought her flowers. Tim brought her a pretty sailboat dress from Maine. Caitlin made her a beautiful handcrafted blanket. Maria brought her sweet little onesies and bibs. She also got a visit from Auntie Lisa, Georgia & uncle Ken who brought her a lovely kittie blanket and pretty pink dresses. Auntie Michelle and Cousins Caitie & Aoife also came to see the newest family member and brought her quite the stylish little Calvin Klyne outfits. Georgia thinks shes pretty, loved to hold her and is glad shes a girl.







Tuesday May 26th:

Many more docs came Tuesday. She got blood drawn, and applied for her birth certificate and social security card. Her Super Special Auntie Beth, who helped her come in to this world, visited with special bundles of pink galore and sweet bedtime song CDs that she listens to every night. Auntie Cathy and Shannon also joined the Pink Parade with oodles of girlie gifts. Honor didn't go to the nursery very much but they took her there for a little while Tuesday night. The Docs all said she was the best dressed baby in there. They loved the monkey blanket! Rumor has it that while they did her tests between 1 am and 4 am while mommy slept, Auntie Beth was in the nursery playing with her!!




Wednesday May 27th:
(Happy Birthday Sydney!)

Daddy was shocked to see a band-aid on his little girls foot. Honor had her PKU test over night and was just fine, but we saw just how protective Thomas is with his little angel. Andy, Kristen and Lilly Arnold came to meet her as well as Brian, Jen (and the bump that will soon be Ethan) Donahue. Auntie Caitlin came back for round two of cuddles also. Daddy got his very own baby bottle from Bri & mommy got pink Champagne from Jen! Then daddy & Honor slept while mommy packed all of her pretty pink gifts and got ready to head home Thursday morning.






Thursday May 28th:
(Happy 1st Birthday Tristen!)

Honor weighed 6 lbs, 9 oz at the time of discharge. Praise God, they did not weigh momma.


Special thanks to all for presents, prayers and good company while we were in the hospital.

Here's our girl day 2!

Honor Daigh Lucas has Arrived!

It's a girl! Honor Daigh Lucas was born on May 24th, 2009 @ 3:45 pm. She's a little beauty weighing in at 7lbs and 4.8 oz. We are all absolutely smitten!

On Saturday morning I felt like something was a little off. I walked the dog with Tom, took a shower and after an hour and a half of not feeling much movement, off we went to Tufts. The docs agreed the bump was very still even though there was a strong heart beat and decided to induce me. I'll save you the over night details other than lots of pain and no sleep. We watched the sox game and played trivial pursuit to pass the time.

We were awake bright and early this am and although labor was progressing slowly, it was moving along. THEN she decided she didn't want to wait for me to be ready and let the docs know SHE WANTED OUT. Within moments of her decision, the docs, nurses, Beth & Tom were all geared up and I was unplugged from about 5 monitors, my epidural and ready to roll off to the obstetric operating room. And within moments of that, she was making the cutest little cries I've ever heard Tom got to snip her cord and we became THREE!

She is a very sweet little girl. Very alert. Eating well. And an absolute cuddle bug.

Visiting Hours at Tufts are 2-8pm. And we will most likely be here for Monday, Tuesday and probably Wednesday.

IT's TWINS!!!!

Well I've made it to May 22nd so technically although there's only one baby in my belly, it will be born a Gemini - Thus Twins. Now that I have your attention, I'm off to the Doctors in the morning for one more appointment and Non-Stress Test. hopefully all will go well and I'll make it through the weekend without having to deal with the holiday traffic while in labor!



Aoife (pronounced E-Fa) is staying with us (my 19 year old niece from Dublin) and has been a huge help and great company. We've been doing a lot of long slow walks around Boston, Cambridge and Watertown. Nearly every person we've encountered has given their opinion of what I'm having, a big baby, a small baby, a boy, a girl and so on. My nesting has gone pretty well and the house is all ready for the baby. (we hope)

Cousins!

Here is a lovely photo of all of the little one's American cousins. Left to Right is Matthew Larney, Jack Lucas, Ava Larney, Me & the Bump, Caitlin Larney, Eve Lucas and Georgia Lucas. This was taken after Matthew's first communion on Saturday. EVERYONE commented how much he looks like Thomas when he was younger. What do you think? Here he is all dressed up.

An amazing mom. And a pretty cool Cousin too.

As I was thumbing through a recent may copy of American
Baby Magazine today,I was pleasantly surprised to see my
cousin Amy's beautiful smile spread across two pages! She
was a 2008 Pink Power Mom award recipient. Here's her story
according to the ad in the magazine. She has always been
a wonderful role model and an amazing woman. If any of you
see the ad featuring her in a May copy of American Baby, please
save it for me. Also look for Amy in the June edition of
Parent Magazine.

Amy recently sent me the most adorable little onesie for the
baby with the skyline of Portland, OR on the front. (Thank You!)

An Inspiring Story

Amy Paterson, a 2008 recipient of the Pink Power Mom recognition,
is one woman whose story captures the spirit of the program.

When her son Jonah was 2 ½, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
As Amy spent months completing chemotherapy, surgery, radiation
and physical therapy, she realized that there was an unmet need for
onsite hospital childcare.

Together with two other moms, Amy started My Little Waiting Room to
bring drop-in childcare to hospitals. My Little Waiting Room will make
it easier for families to keep appointments and get the medical care
they need. The first My Little Waiting Room is expected to debut this
year in Portland, Oregon. Bright Starts will be a brand partner for infant
products in the facility with the donation of baby gear and toys.

"There`s no doubt that breast cancer changes your life," said Paterson.
"Thanks to the support of my medical team, my family and friends, I am
a survivor. Helping other families to better make and keep medical
appointments through My Little Waiting Room is how I`ve chosen to
give back. With the help of Bright Starts, I hope to make a positive,
meaningful difference for families in the same way that so many people
helped mine."
